The Roundup: Winter Survival

Uncategorized

The Ground Hog has spoken! Errr, I mean he has magically predicted that we are stuck with 6 more weeks of winter!  Don’t panic, don’t panic, I know that sounds depressing, but not to worry. I’ll be far far away from the cold in a few days. Phew.

Oh, you’ll still be here? Still, no need to worry, I’m rounding up my top beauty picks to keep your skin happy and hydrated during these last frigid weeks.

1.Dry Skin: Everyone’s got it this time of year. The skin on my hands actually cracks and bleeds during these cold, dry months. To protect my face from harsh Canadian winters I always use Philosophy’s Renewed Hope in a jar (dry). The reason I am constantly mentioning this product is because there is nothing out there that compares!

2. Dull Skin: It seems like the sun doesn’t shine for weeks on end during the winter. If you need to brighten your complexion, you know cause you’re white as a ghost this time of year, try Benefit’s Watt’s Up Highlighter. Its so easy to apply and is very subtle. Even those without make application talent can pull it off.

3. Get-Away Necessities: If you’re fleeing the country, first of all I don’t blame you, second, don’t get too excited and end up with a sunburn. Dermalogica has some of the best skin care products to prevent over exposure. Their products are all aimed at keeping your skin healthy and happy.

4. Winter Blahs: If you’re not escaping the winter you may want to fake it. Without visiting a tanning bed obviously! Vita Liberata has THE BEST self tanner on the market right now. If self tanners are not your thing you can try out a good bronzer, like this one from Tom Ford.

5. Cabin Fever: I get crazy bored this time of year. It seems like there’s nothing to do, especially at night. So when my daughter goes to sleep I like to do an extended beauty routine. These high tech tools look like so much fun. If you want to keep it simple than try doing an at-home manicure. Or go all out with teeth whitening and DIY laser hair removal.
